How it began
The Refill Shoppe® started with a pretty olive oil bottle and a lightbulb moment in the shower - why keep buying new bottles when you could just refill the good ones you already have?
A long road trip turned that little thought into a big idea: a place where you can get just what you need, without all the extra waste.
Founder Michelle Stevens opened The Refill Shoppe, drawing inspiration from her ocean-loving childhood on a sailboat, mucking around in the Everglades during summer conservancy camps, and having incredibly loving supportive parents. Michelle was awarded 'Innovator of the Year' from NAWBO, the National Association of Women Business Owners, Ventura County Chapter in 2012.

Our Flagship Shoppe
We opened the doors of The Refill Shoppe on July 2nd, 2010 - just in time for Ventura’s 4th of July parade! After weeks of painting, thrifting, and DIY-ing our space in that lovely little mid-century building, we had one big question: Would anyone actually bring bottles to refill? The answer was a resounding yes!
By 2012, we’d become a part of the community and outgrown our nook, so we moved to a more prominent space on the sunny side of the street in Downtown Ventura! And that is where you will find us if you are lucky enough to visit this part of the world - refilling, reusing, and welcoming awesome folks like you.
Come say hi! We’re at 363 E Main St., Ventura, CA, open daily 10–6 (closed on New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas).
