Essential Oils vs Natural Fragrance Oils
Essential oils are the volatile, aromatic oils obtained by steam or hydrodistillation of botanicals. Different parts of the plants can be used to obtain essential oils, including the flowers, leaves, seeds, roots, stems, bark, wood, etc. Essential oils are also known as volatile oils, ethereal oils or simply as the “oil of” the plant from which they were extracted. An oil is “essential” in the sense that it carries a distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant. Essential oils undeniably have been found to carry positive properties from the plant materials they were extracted from.
The scents not marked with e.o. at the end of their name are ‘natural fragrance oils’, meaning they are created in a lab but instead of using traditional synthetic materials they use a mixture of natural materials to create a scent that is otherwise impossible or unaffordable!
* Essential Oils are for external use only, never ingest. Always dilute essential oils before applying to skin. Keep out of eyes, ears, nose, mouth, etc. Keep away from children & pets. If you have sensitive skin, epilepsy, heart or kidney problems, or any serious medical condition, do not use essential oils unless advised by a medical professional that it is safe. Do not use essential oils on babies under 3 months. Use caution & research when using essential oils for pregnant women & children under 10 years of age.
