How pure are your products?
Cleaning Products - There are no USDA National Organic Program standards/regulations at this point in time, so household cleaners cannot legally be called “certified organic.” But, our cleaners are free of chlorine, optical brighteners, phosphates, carcinogens, neurotoxins, respiratory irritants, skin sensitizers, endocrine disruptors, ozone depleting substances, toxic metals, phosphates, chlorinated packaging, common allergens, asthmagens, synthetic fragrances and artificial dyes. They are gluten-free, dairy-free and, aside from coconut-based surfactants, do not contain any nut-based ingredients. They are also safe for septic systems and greywater.
The Botanical Co. Face Care Line - These wonderful products are made to order just for us in small batches. Annie, a creator of 100% natural skin care since 1995, uses only the finest quality ingredients nature can supply, many of which she organically grows herself. Every ingredient used in these products is free of any unnatural chemicals, fillers or toxic preservatives.
Lotions/Creams/Oils/Sprays - Our lotions and creams are all aloe juice based and have over 87% organic content in addition to some really great distillates. The oils we use have high organic content and only ingredients you can pronounce. Check out the ingredients here.
Foaming Bath/Body Liquids - Foaming beyond the level of castile soap is not very 'natural.' Our foaming liquids are paraben-free and sulfate-free (sulfates are one type of surfactant that cause foaming) but do have other surfactants. Considering these products get rinsed off, a balance between usability and pureness of ingredients is the ideal. Aloe juice is the base ingredient for most of our foaming bath/body liquids. * We also offer alternatives such as soap, shave, and shampoo bars that are about as pure as it gets.
Are any of your products tested on animals?
The only product we have that has been tested on animals is the dog shampoo. And they love it!
Where are the bulk items produced?
All the bulk items we carry for refilling are made here in the good ol' U.S.A. (except the Dead Sea and Pink Himalayan Bath Salts).
Are your products vegan?
Most of our products are vegan. Some exceptions include: Honey & Soft Face Wash (honey), Mud Mask & Scrub (honey), Rough Scrub (honey), Glow Scrub (honey), Beauty Butter (beeswax) and Hair Serum (silk proteins).
Are your products GMO-Free?
Our products are 99.7% GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) free!
Are your products gluten free?
We cannot guarantee that our products are gluten-free or nut-free (unless marked) as our products are produced in a facility that handles gluten and nuts.
Gluten is commonly listed as:
stearyldimoniumhydroxypropyl (hydrolyzed wheat protein)
hydroxypropyltrimonium (hydrolyzed wheat protein)
amino peptide complex
hydrolyzed malt extract
samino peptide complex
hydrolyzed vegetable protein
triticum vulgare (wheat)
hordeum vulgare (barley)
secale cereale (rye)
avena sativa (oats)
maltodextrin (can be from barley)
vitamin E (can be derived from wheat) (aka tocopherol)
Which products cannot be custom-scented?
Due to the nature of these products, scenting is not recommended —Rosewater Toner, Aftershave, Astringent, Peppermint Castile Soap, Glass Cleaner, Kitchen & Bath Cleaner, Dishwasher Soap and The Botanical Co. Face Care line. We do not scent any of the Salts, Soaks, Powders or Teas except for the original Bath Salts.
How are refills priced?
All of our liquids and powders available for refilling are sold by the fluid ounce. The price per ounce starts at 21 cents and includes the cost of custom-scenting for all scentable products.
How does the refill pouch work?
Get excited —this is pretty cool. You place an order in the ‘create’ section, pick the refill pouch, enter how many ounces you need and select the scents you would like. We mix up your creation in a pouch or spout bag and pack it up safe and sound for shipping. When your pouch is empty, you simply pop it in the mail to return it, utilizing the pre-paid postage. Once back at the shoppe, we high-pressure rinse, air-dry, sanitize with a UV light, and refill for the next awesome person! That’s right, zero-waste refills wherever you are.
What about the 1/16 oz scent booster vial?
This makes it easy to increase the scent level of your product so that it’s just right for you! If you are concerned about a blend being too strong, we recommend ordering it scented ‘subtle’ and add on the extra vial of scent so you can add just the right amount. Word of warning —the gels (shower gel, shampoo, etc.) can liquefy if too much scent is added; they do still work, they’re just thinner. Also know that these are straight essential oils and/or fragrances that need to be diluted before applying to the skin.
What is the return policy?
Unused merchandise in new, saleable condition may be returned or exchanged within 30 days. Bulk items are non-returnable, but we recommend saving it to use as an excellent emergency gift!
Any tips for taking bubble baths?
Of course! Additives are important, we like to use two or three of the following for each bath: bubbles, salts, bath bombs, bath oil, essential oils and/or bath soak. We always light a couple candles to help set the mood. One of our very favorite tips is for you to take a large glass of ice water with you to help prevent overheating during hot steamy baths. Not to mention you will be hydrated inside and out afterwards. Now put on a face mask and relax!

Can I bring my own bottle?
Yes! You are welcome to bring bottles you already have. It is recommended to clean bottles thoroughly and let them dry before bringing them in to refill. In the case of a glass container that previously held a food product, we recommend sterilizing with diluted bleach.
Can I refill things that aren't totally empty?
Yes, if you are already using our products you are able to do partial refills so you can get everything you need in one trip. Simply weigh the container at the Tare Station prior to filling and mark the start weight on a tag. We will then fill, scent, top-it-off and reweigh to figure out just how much was added.
